Two 6x8 Papers, One 12x12 Layout: Let the Colours Fall! ||| Due Fogli 6x8, Un Solo Layout 12x12: lasciamo cadere i Colori!

How I Turned Two Small Patterned Papers from Pinkfresh Studio's Ordinary Joys Collection into a Colorful, Dimensional Backdrop for a Full-Size Scrapbook Layout.

Come ho trasformato due piccoli fogli patterned della collezione Ordinary Joys di Pinkfresh Studio in uno sfondo colorato e tridimensionale per un layout di formato classico.

Hello crafty friends! I'm so happy you're here! Today I'm sharing a new 12x12 layout created with the beautiful Ordinary Joys collection by Pinkfresh Studio. This project began with a little creative challenge: how could I incorporate two small 6x8 patterned papers into a full-size 12x12 layout? Instead of treating the smaller format as a limitation, I made it the foundation of my design. The result is a colorful, dimensional backdrop that lets the cheerful patterns take center stage.

Ciao, amici creativi! Sono davvero felice che siate qui! Oggi condivido con voi un nuovo layout 12×12 realizzato con la bellissima collezione Ordinary Joys di Pinkfresh Studio. Questo progetto è nato da una piccola sfida creativa: come potevo incorporare due piccoli fogli patterned 6×8 in un layout 12×12? Invece di considerare il formato ridotto come un limite, l’ho trasformato nel punto di partenza del mio design. Il risultato è uno sfondo colorato e tridimensionale che lascia a queste allegre fantasie il ruolo di vere protagoniste.

After choosing my paper, and believe me, it was difficult because they are all gorgeous, I went for this colorful striped pattern. Using a precision knife, I partially cut along each stripe and shortened it where the printed design ended, removing the white portion. I repeated the same process with a second sheet of the same pattern from the 6x8 pad. Then, I placed the two sheets side by side across the top of a white cardstock page, creating one continuous 12 inch wide panel.

Dopo aver scelto il foglio e credetemi, è stato difficile perché sono tutti meravigliosi, ho optato per questa coloratissima fantasia a righe. Utilizzando un cutter di precisione, ho tagliato parzialmente lungo ogni striscia e l’ho accorciata nel punto in cui terminava il motivo stampato, eliminando la parte bianca. Ho ripetuto lo stesso procedimento con un secondo foglio della medesima fantasia, preso dal paper pad 6×8. Poi ho posizionato i due fogli uno accanto all’altro nella parte superiore della pagina, creando un unico pannello continuo largo 12 pollici.

Once the fringe was in place, I wrapped several lenghths of a white thread across the top. This helped connect the two papers while adding even more texture to the page. I deliberately left the ends of the thread loose and attached two fun handmade paper tassels to them. This technique is an easy way to make smaller papers work beautifully on a 12×12 scrapbook layout without needing a large sheet of patterned paper.

Una volta sistemata la frangia di carta, ho avvolto diversi fili bianchi lungo la parte superiore. Questo mi ha aiutata a collegare visivamente i due fogli, aggiungendo allo stesso tempo ancora più texture alla pagina. Ho lasciato intenzionalmente libere le estremità dei fili e vi ho applicato due divertenti nappine di carta realizzate a mano. Questa tecnica è un modo semplice per utilizzare magnificamente i fogli più piccoli su un layout scrapbook 12×12, senza aver bisogno di un grande foglio di carta patterned.

For the lower half of the layout, I chose a large photo from a family trip to Djerba in March 2026. I edited it in black and white so that it wouldn't compete with the bright colors of the Ordinary Joys collection. A handwritten-style 'Captured Joy' title and a small date label finish the story while keeping the photo open and visible. The title is a Rub-on from another  gorgeous Pinkfresh collection, Crafted Moments.

Per la metà inferiore del layout ho scelto una grande fotografia scattata durante un viaggio di famiglia a Djerba, nel marzo 2026. L’ho modificata in bianco e nero affinché non entrasse in competizione con i colori vivaci della collezione Ordinary Joys. Il titolo “Captured Joy”, in stile calligrafico, e una piccola etichetta con la data completano il racconto, lasciando la fotografia libera e ben visibile. Il titolo è un rub-on proveniente da un’altra splendida collezione Pinkfresh Studio, Crafted Moments.

With the main elements in place, I added embellishments from the Pinkfresh Studio Ordinary Joys and Crafted Moments collections, including chipboard pieces, cardstock phrases, wood embellishments, enamel dots and more. Instead of building large, heavy clusters, I scattered the embellishments across the page. This keeps the layout light, airy and full of movement.

Una volta sistemati gli elementi principali, ho aggiunto decorazioni provenienti dalle collezioni Ordinary Joys e Crafted Moments di Pinkfresh Studio, tra cui elementi in chipboard, frasi in cartoncino, decorazioni in legno, enamel dots e altro ancora. Invece di creare cluster grandi e pesanti, ho distribuito le decorazioni sulla pagina. In questo modo il layout rimane leggero, arioso e ricco di movimento.
